Edna and Fred Balliet founded Balliet's in 1936 in the historic Skirvin Tower Hotel in downtown Oklahoma City. Balliet's was relocated to 50 Penn Place (its current location) in 1973 under the ownership of Leo M. "Buddy" Rodgers and was expanded to include European designers, accessories, shoes and cosmetics.
In September of 1991, current owners Bob and DeDe Benham purchased Rodgers' interest in Balliet's and have since continually refined and improved the store. Today, Balliet's remains well known within the fashion industry and enjoys a national reputation as a premiere women's fashion specialty store. Lisa Shinn, daughter of Bob and DeDe, joined the business in 1999 and currently serves as Director of Marketing. The Benhams also have a son, Mike, who is a Major in the Air Force stationed in Florida as an F-15 Eagle instructor pilot.
